Wake Up Sunshine - Chicago (VINTAGE ALT TAKE DRUM COVER)

I have no idea why this is the ALT TAKE. I am doing my best Danny Seraphine in my “Earl way” and not trying to get every note right, but I liked it enough to keep it! More about the song! The sun is shining today for the first time in about a month, and it’s been a while since we’ve visited a “guilty pleasure.” So it seemed like it might be a good time for this one. In the collective minds of t...

This drum talk rant is about what happened to the RUclips drum community since 2017. I discuss: How has it changed? How do we get subs and views? How has the RUclips Short video format changed our attention span? Is there still a need to watch long form videos and drum covers? Why I do drum cover on RUclips. This was my number one take. But I had camera issues that day and choose take number 2! 😂😎 This song was cut after Rush Limbugh died as a goodbye to him from me! I was an avid listener to his show in its hey day, even tough I am poitically in the middle these days! The story of this song is pretty interesting in that it tips it hat to both sides of the political aisles … read on! My City Was Go...

Nicely done Earl! Always one of my favorites, and you've done it well.
Very nice ❤
🤜🤛👍
Earl!!!!!!! I know this song very well,,,, my dad used to listen to it!!!!!! It sounds so familiar to my childhood!!!!!!! Great groove brother!!!!!! Can you do Tak3 5 if you haven’t done it already!!??!!?? !:!!!!!! Let me know!!!!!! You sound so incredibly awesome 🤩!!!!!!! Bravo 🙌
Beautiful cover man! Sounds nice🤘🤘🤘
Thanks Toby! I appreciate the encouragement my friend!
My wife loves Todd Rungrend,... that was great Earl!!! Question- I noticed that you set your snare at different heights sometimes. At times more flat, and lower, at times (like today) up bit and a bit angled ...reasons? Or, am I imagining things?😂 🥁👍😎🥁👍😎
Thanks for the feedback Jeff! You might be right my friend! It’s how a feel or my seat height are factors. I’ll explore this question on AEA in July! Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻
@@earldrum interesting!!!😎👍🥁
🥁🪘🥁🪘❤❤ Bang Bang 👍
Thanks for the feedback my friend Bang Bang! 🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻
You make everything look so effortless and smooth. That is what I need to work on. I love that ride and what you do with it, and those accent hits on the hats are cool. It seems that lately you have chosen songs that really show your skills on the throne.❤️👏🙏❤️👏🙏❤️
Thanks for the feedback Greg! I choose this one because someone said 8 played it wrong the first version! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the encouragement my friend!
Nice choice, Earl! Seen Todd in 1982 in West Hartford. This was the only song I recognized by name when he rocked the Agora Ballroom. Connecticut may have had some small venues like Toads place in New Haven or Shaboo (The little dirt road off of highway 6... Elvin Bishop ) but Jim koplik and Shelly Finkel brought in some fine acts back in the day. Hallelujah!
Thanks for the feedback and trip down memory lane! Have a great weekend! 🙏🏻👍🏻😎🤘🏻🤣
❤😊🥁👍
Bringing back some memories. Great job brother!!!! 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅

"The urban myth that Brandy was based on Mary Ellis (1750-1828), a spinster in New Brunswick, New Jersey." New Brunswick NJ is nowhere near the coast or the sea. Just along the Raritan RIver. 🤣🤣
Thanks for the feedback and watching. It never made sense to me either I’m from NJ! 😂😎👍🏻
PMG is my absolute favorite band all time and so enjoyed this tremendous cover and tribute! Nothing at all easy here and you did a super job keeping up with the Group. Well played Earl!
Thanks for watching my friend! Every once in a while you have to push yourself in a different direction! Thanks for watching Don!
@earldrum that's a different direction no doubt! We'll done sir!
@@thedrumdon2485 yea, I can’t play like Danny Gottlieb! So I have to be me for sure!
A minute was too short for me... so I looked for your long version..... Absolutely the finest, Earl... the sound is of course completely suitable with these concert toms... Huge sounded performance ... good job Earl 🥁🥁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the feedback Lutz! I’m glad you enjoyed it! That’s what I hoped many would do go to the long form video! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

@@earldrum yes!!!!!🙌 I love it 🥰
Great drumming Earl. Metheny can be tricky but you nailed it.
Thanks for the feedback D! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎🤘🏻👍🏻🥁
Hey, thanks for the shout-out! Nicely done, man. I did not recall you doing this one before, but it's cool to put out different takes. The liberties you can take with more jazz oriented stuff is so cool.
Your cover was awesome and you nailed the ending! I just got out in time! 😂😂😂😂 this cover was done very quickly with my grandson losing patience for filming me! 😂😂 but I pulled it off and it was very much my liberties that got me through it! Danny Gottlieb is a beast! I can’t play this stuff exact! I appreciate your kind words Jim! 🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻
Amazing cover man! Sounds great and awesome filming Asher!🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for the feedback Toby! Asher did a great job filming this video! 🙏🏻😎🤘🏻👍🏻🥁
love it!
Thanks for the feedback Joel! 🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻
Awesome!
Thanks for the feedback Joel! 😎😎🤘🏻👍🏻🥁
Great playing Earl.....Such a great tom pattern! First saw this watching Chester Thompson playing this song, so good!!
Thanks for the feedback Glenn! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎🤘🏻🥁
You know how much I love tomtastic tomfoolery, and you really hit the nail on the head with this piece, Hammer. Wow!!! This one takes the cake!!!❤️👏🙏❤️👏🙏❤️
Greg you should check out the entire 5 minute tomfoolery video! It’s one of my best videos!
@@earldrum Where would I find that one? Is the title 5 Minute Tomfoolery?
Groovy, man. As smooth as spreading warm butter on freshly baked bread. That was so much fun with the big cymbals carrying the load and giving the hats a much deserved rest.❤️👏🙏❤️👏🙏❤️
Thanks for the feedback and watching Greg! 🤔I play it like hear it … sometimes cymbals 🤷🏻♂️ sometimes hi hats 🤷🏻♂️ sometimes toms 🤷🏻♂️ 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻
Cool job my friend!!!
Thanks for the feedback Mickey! 🙏🏻👍🏻😎🥁
Smooth jazz Friday!!!!!! LOVE THIS! I don't recall you doing thsi one last year, but ...love it, love the flat ride too! Great job Earl! 🥁👍😎
Thanks for the feedback Jeff! I did but it had a lot of cuts to the stationary camera! @jimflys2 did a cover of this song on Monday … I left a link to his video in my description! It’s a great song! Danny Gottlieb love those flat ride cymbals! I had to use that on this song! 🙏🏻👍🏻😎🤘🏻
Nice powerful drums Mr Hammer.
Thanks for the feedback D!
❤🥁❤️
🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻🥁
Lots of nice things but the snare is wrong, too busy, and you just don’t bother with those tricky tom strokes.
Thanks for the feedback Shane. I don’t completely agree with everything you said, but I hear ways I can play it more like the record, since that’s what you want. Anyhow I’ll redo this one soon just for fun. Thanks for watching!
Boy oh boy!!!!!! Great intro!!!!!! I love that!!!!!! That ride cymbal is singing!!!!!!! 🎵 your so unbelievably gifted!!!!!! I just love watching you play!!!!!! It’s a privilege!!!!!! Great job 👏 😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks for the feedback and kind words Bryan!

Very funky! Love that phat snare and the dead tom sound! Awesome stuff Earl!
Thanks for the feedback Kelly! I love this kit! Thanks for the encouragement!
This was really groovy, fabulous. Bernard, no doubt, right? Great job.
Hi Jim, Bernard and Ed Greene are on the album, but it’s a Jeff Porcaro song! I listened to the Moises drums alone and it sounded like Jeff to my ears …. It’s crazy how you can really hear different drummers back in the day! Thanks for watching!
Amazing performance! Great job 🙂👍🎶
Thanks for the feedback Alexander! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎👍🏻🤘🏻
Very nice work Earl!
Thank you kindly Ben! Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻👍🏻😎🤘🏻
